🌿 God in the Waiting
Waiting is never easy. It confronts us with our impatience, our doubts, and the silence of God. Yet Scripture is full of stories where waiting was not wasted time, but sacred preparation for something greater.
David waited twelve years before he became king.
Joseph waited thirteen years before he ruled Egypt.
Abraham waited twenty-five years for the promised son.
Moses waited forty years in the desert.
Noah waited one hundred and twenty years building an ark before the rain came.
In the New Testament, we also find women who waited: the woman at the well, the woman who touched Jesus’ cloak, the woman caught in adultery, and Mary and Martha. Each of them experienced that God’s timing is never late.
What Happens in the Waiting
Waiting is never passive.
-
Before leading, Moses learned to depend on God.
-
Before ruling, Joseph was forgotten, yet refined in his faithfulness.
-
Before sailing, Noah built.
-
Before receiving the promise, Abraham trusted.
-
Before reigning, David hid.
-
Before being exalted, Jesus emptied Himself.
The waiting shapes us. It’s not just about what you are waiting for, but about who you are becoming in the process.
Hope That Does Not Fail
Biblical hope is not wishful thinking or fragile optimism. It is confident expectation in a God who always keeps His promises.
If you find yourself in a season of waiting, remember:
-
It is not wasted time.
-
God is working in the unseen.
-
Faith grows stronger in the dark than in the light.
-
Waiting not only prepares the blessing—it prepares you to receive it.
🌸 Short Devotional
Verse of the Day
"But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently."
— Romans 8:25 (NIV)
Reflection
Waiting is not punishment, it is God’s workshop. Each day that feels empty is actually filled with His shaping hand. He is never late. He is strengthening your faith and reminding you that His grace is enough, even when answers are still unseen.
Prayer
Lord, help me to trust Your perfect timing. When I cannot see the outcome, teach me to rest in You. Grow my faith in the waiting, and let my heart find peace in Your presence. Amen.
