Friends Who Lift You to Jesus

Image
This week reminded me that life was never meant to be lived alone and that sometimes, the people God places in our path are the ones who carry us closer to Him, even when they don’t realize it. On Tuesday, I went to El Cuerpo , the clinic where we volunteer to provide free medical care to the Hispanic community. Before we begin, we always gather in prayer. That morning, the encouragement came from Mark 2:1–12   the story of the paralyzed man whose friends lowered him through the roof to reach Jesus. They didn’t let the crowd stop them. They believed. They acted. And Jesus, seeing their faith , forgave and healed their friend. That story stayed in my heart all week. The next day, Wednesday, was my first day of clinicals. I came home so excited, ready to tell my parents all about it the experience, the patients, the joy I felt. But when I got home, they were too busy, too caught up in their own problems to ask. For a moment, I felt invisible. Later, I went to see my fr...

🌿 God in the Waiting

Image
Waiting is never easy. It confronts us with our impatience, our doubts, and the silence of God. Yet Scripture is full of stories where waiting was not wasted time, but sacred preparation for something greater. David waited twelve years before he became king. Joseph waited thirteen years before he ruled Egypt. Abraham waited twenty-five years for the promised son. Moses waited forty years in the desert. Noah waited one hundred and twenty years building an ark before the rain came. In the New Testament, we also find women who waited: the woman at the well, the woman who touched Jesus’ cloak, the woman caught in adultery, and Mary and Martha. Each of them experienced that God’s timing is never late. What Happens in the Waiting Waiting is never passive. Before leading, Moses learned to depend on God . Before ruling, Joseph was forgotten , yet refined in his faithfulness. Before sailing, Noah built . Before receiving the promise, Abraham trusted . Before reigni...

Wrestling with Job and My Own Story

Image
Reading through the book of Job has been an emotional experience for me. It’s almost impossible not to draw parallels between Job’s journey and my own story—especially my marriage and divorce. Of course, what Job went through is far greater than anything I’ve faced, but his pain and his faith stir something in me. What really struck me is that, at the very beginning, the book gives us a glimpse of what’s about to happen in Job’s life. That introduction prepares us for the storm that’s coming. But in our own lives, we don’t get that kind of preamble. We wake up one day, and suddenly life looks nothing like what we thought it would. How much easier would it be if we knew what God was doing behind the scenes? Instead, we have to learn to trust that He is present, both in joy and in heartbreak. For a long time, I thought that if I did everything “right,” things would naturally fall into place. Move to a new country, get married, build a home, have children—that was the dream. But divorce...

Small Guide of Stitches

This is just a small guide of stitches you are going to need but many yarn shops offer classes, or you can look up video tutorials online. ·           SLIPKNOT Use this to begin a chain. Make a loop on your yarn a few inches from the end. Insert your hook through the loop and grab the yarn end connected to the skein. Pull the strand through the loop, then tighten the knot. ·           YARN OVER (Y0) Wrap the yarn around your hook from back to front. ·           CHAIN (CH) Make a slipknot first (unless you are in the middle of a piece and already have a loop on your hook). YO and pull yarn through the loop on hook. Repeat as many times as required. The loop on the hook doesn't count as chain, so omit it if you are checking the stitch count. ·           WORKING INTO A CHAIN Usually, you must skip the ch n...
